How x402 works (four steps)

  1. User visits: the browser requests a protected page.
  2. Server responds with 402 + payment instructions: the site states payment is required and includes the checkout details.
  3. Payment happens: the user pays once, typically with USDC via an exchange or wallet.
  4. Access unlocks: successful payment unlocks the content automatically.
